Central Park Photo

This photo was taken in central park. I intended to capture the couple walking along the curved road. I wanted to have the leading lines disappear into the corners as well. This photo gives me a very romantic vibe. One thing i would change is where they are in the frame because they are in the dead center.

Concrete Jungle

The reason I like this photo is because of the meaning I saw in this. We see nature and then behind the nature the iconic concrete jungle. I took this still life to encompass Central Park and The Big Apple. The crane on the top of the building shows that the city is not done building, and makes one think that Central Park could soon shrink.

Central park

This photograph was taking in central park. The element and technique used is rule of thirds. I really like this picture because it shows a sense of comedy. The statue looks a live since I put it in Rule of Thirds.

Central Park

I took this picture in our last trip to New York, I filling the frame in this picture and i used the rule of thirds.

Last trip to NYC

During my day at Central Park in New York I took many photo's. But none of them came out like this one. This one shows the beauty of texture. If you don't know me yet, I love texture photos. I love texture be cause it's like a 3D model. Like this one if you look at it carefully you can almost touch it.

Street Life

As we arrived this manhole's steam immediately caught my eye. I saw the couple at the other side about to cross the street and immediately knew what I had to do. Previously in class we had learned about street photography and more specifically "decisive moments". This is my decisive moment.
Exiting Central Park, we arrived at Columbus Circle and catching my eye was this globe structure. I didn't want to immediately take a picture of just the globe so I looked for a little fun I could have with the photo. The one way sign points the viewer in the direction of the globe so it can still be a focus of the picture but the picture has many different interpretations due to the balance created by the buildings in the background.

Concrete Jungle

This was my first time going to Central Park. Nothing really caught my eyes. Towards the ending of our walk through the park I caught the glimpse of these buildings. I then immediately noticed how the foliage creates a nice frame around them.

While leaving the ground zero memorial I almost missed this flower. I caught it out of the corner of my eye. I searched it up and it has a significant meaning. Each morning the 9/11 Memorial is commemorating the birthdays of victims of the attacks by placing a single white rose on their name.

Hello New York

This flower really caught my attention while in New York. It looked like it was in full bloom and I had to take a picture of it. it came out very well with a simplified background and the subject was in focus. Also, the purple really collides with the green background making it all the more interesting.

While in the St. Patrick's Cathedral, the candles really caught my attention. I really wanted to capture the details of a single candle. Of course this meant I had to go up close to take the photo. This photo also captures a nice blurry effect on the candles light behind the main focus of the photo.

New York during sunset

On our trip to New York at night was very fun. I loved the light's and how it was full of people from all over. But to the night isn't the best time to take photos in New York. Sunset is the best time, I say that because look at the wonderful color the sky have. The color bring out the picture of the Express Ad.

NY Night in the Lights

During our Night trip  in New York, I wanted to try the different settings that my camera has to offer. I was able to make the lights like this due to the fireworks setting in my camera. By taking the picture and slowly moving the camera while it was processing I was able to achieve this light effect.
In this picture I wanted to show a abstraction with lights. I wanted people to ask what it is that their looking at and also have something visually nice to look at.

Times Square 1999

These photos were taken in Times Square, just before sunset. In the first photo, I had to use fill flash to illuminate the fence and sign in the foreground because it was a backlit situation. My intention in this first photo was to capture the obvious metaphor. I in the second photo, I wanted to draw more attention to the rubble than to the city. I like these photos because they both have a semi-apocalyptic theme with restricted areas and rubble.

Times Square Times

Times Square was a very beautiful place, and especially at night. There were many things that caught my attention. Once I came upon this I knew I had to take a picture of it. It shows things such as repetition, reflection, and of course filling the frame. It also gave off a very interesting color from what it was reflecting off of.

Opened Side

This Picture is of The World Trade Center, Its a bottom view look up and the windows were open and thought it was a nice shot with the glare coming from the side. The sun glare on the shot also made the shot very interesting. I believe this is one of my best work. And that if i were to take this again I would most likely change the ISO of the camera before I took this picture.

New york city times square illusion

This photo was taken in New York city around 8:00 or 7:30. The building had caught my eye because of how much light was hitting it and the shadows it created. Thankfully there was one part of the building that was a real attention grabber was a series of 5 pillars. I angled my shot properly so i could fill the frame and make the photo look like a optical illusion.

The following photo caught my eye on the way to 5th ave because of the reflection along the glass building and the amount of sunlight beaming down the street. I also made sure to catch the street lights and street sign in the photo in order to make a small pattern or repetition. The street lights can also be used as a leading line in the sense it leads you right into the building.

Times Square at Sunset

When we arrived on 33rd Street, there was a bit of awe inside of us all. It was short lived, though, as we needed to hurry our way through NYC that evening. The sunset in this picture creates the whole gold like look to the buildings. The lines of the buildings, both vertical and diagonal work off of each other to create something eye catching in this picture. Underexposing this picture made the details more apparent and downplayed the amount of light really in the situation. The fragment in this picture makes it somewhat abstract, and although you know there are buildings in the picture you keep looking.

Sunset At Time Square

This was taken in time square at sunset. I used fill flash to expose more of the texture. I like this picture because it shows magnificent texture and detail. It also shows a little rule of thirds going on. This photo is also pretty simple but it attracts attention.

City Never Sleeps

I chose these two photographs, because I feel as if they define New York City. The photos show all of the hustling and bustling that happens in the city. These still life semi-action shots are meant to capture NYC at a glance. I like how the clouds look in the sky creating a more peaceful environment. I also like how people in the other picture can be seen scampering across the road to beat the turning cars.

Simplicity among commotion

At first look you are drawn to the subject who is completely in focus. Simplifying the background makes for a photo that is very easy to look at. The lighting at that time of day (evening) was easy to adapt to since it wasn't harsh at all. The subject is also very obviously of center. I also like how the red in his hoodie is complemented by the hints of red in the background.

Times Square

This photo like my others is amazing. I took this picture in time square when I went on a trip on may 19. I love the color in this picture and how every is dark except the ads. This picture would've never been done by me unless I went to this class. You have to love those lights

St. Patrick's Lights

This photo was taken in St. Patrick's Cathedral. This is a photo of the candles that anyone can light. I like this photo because it shows the repetition of the candles. Along with the exposer and the shadows from the candles, the picture shows the sanctity of the cathedral.

New York City Night Life

This photo is in Times Square at night. I like this picture because a disappearing line that catches one's attention. I also like how focused my picture is. Everywhere you look, you will see that the picture is in perfect focus. My intention was to have the whole picture in focus because I wanted to show the life of New York City.

This picture is of a statue in St. Patrick's Cathedral. This picture represent the technique of light and shadow as well as filling the frame. In this picture, the light shows that is God shining his light upon the man as if God is taking to him. Filling the frame with the man's face made it even more powerful as the light shines upon him.

Times Square

I took this picture in time square New York, that was a good experience because i saw a lot of new things and went for new places and streets.

This picture was taken in Hoboken. The compositition of this photo shows reputation, reflection, leading lines, and texture. I enjoy this picture because it makes you focus and pay attention to the photograph.

Top of the world

This is one of my pictures during our trip to Hoboken. I wanted to experiment with taking abnormal self portraits and decided that this picture successfully shows this. By taking this picture on the ball I wanted the viewers to imagine that I was standing on a small planet.

A walk through Hoboken

When looking to take a photo some of the first things I look for is balance and symmetry. The trees on both sides create a near mirror image of each other. All the lines in the photo leads you to look towards the back of the image. It draws you in. The photo is slightly underexposed, which I think allows for more detail to be shown. Most of the image is in focus,  you can even see the clouds on the right side.

Which side will you take?

Before this photograph was taken i noticed a interesting light post with good symmetry and it had been a partially cloudy day which influenced the photo. I aligned my camera up with the light post and angled the pole so its sides could lead into the corners of the frame which created two leading lines. I intentionally waited for a large cloud to pass overhead to try and catch a two sided photo that would be split in half by the light post.

Y

This is my photo from Hoboken, NJ. One of the many reasons I like this photo is because it looks like a Y shaped structure with repetition of the wood going across the photo. I filled the frame while underexposing the wood, which correctly exposed the sky behind it. This photo is also interesting because when someone looks at it, their eyes will play tricks on them. This picture will make anyone speculate what it is, which was my intention from the beginning.

Sky Slide

The reason I took this picture, was because the silver bars caught my eye in the sun. They add depth because of the decline on the far side. At the same they make me feel like I could jump out of the sky and slide onto the ground. The shadows also add a cool effect and another dimension, aided with the clear blue sky with clouds in the background.

Hoboken Photo shoot

During the time I was in Hoboken many pictures were took by me. But in this specific one caught my attention. I tried in different exposures of the same picture. After taking this one i stopped. Why? I stopped because i love the texture in this one. I also like how the rock has glowing spots. The sun was great to take pictures that day, this picture is a perfect example of that.

Earth on earth?

Have you ever seen Earth? Did you know we walk on earth when we're not on concrete sidewalks? Well in this picture that was my artistic goal during my trip in Hoboken. My intention was to show how shallow my depth of field can be with my first time using Aperture Value mode. The lower my f-stop the lower my focus and in this instance I wanted it to be low enough (4.5) to show the single "Earth" sphere rather than both.

Window to Nature

This photo was taken at a very atypical point of view. This makes you want to think what this object could be. The photo came out to be four windows that lead to nature. The object breaks the view into four pieces which causes the the "window" effect. This photo also made me realize that I enjoy taking atypical point of view photos.

Hoboken's Coast

In this photo, I intended to capture two leading lines on the water. One is the left side, where the coast meets the water. The other is on the right, where the bridge traveling over the water forms an s-curve. The buildings and trees on the right side also form leading lines, which lead the viewer to the sky. I shot this photo on manual, experimenting with the exposure. Although I believe this is under-exposed, I like the way the sun highlights certain potions of the photo like the water and tops of the buildings.

Hoboken's Park Coaster

This  Picture reminds me of when you are getting on a roller coaster, and its going up and up. and how the light at the top is staring down upon you and you have that feeling of slow motion as cart is coming to a climax and as it goes for a drop everyone screaming around you as your hair is flipping around.

Hobokenness

Of the many photos taken during our trip to Hoboken, this one stands out to me most. Applying the rule of thirds, I was able to retain the lock on the left third as the focal point of the photograph. Along with the rule of thirds, the low aperture allows it to be the only subject in focus. This photo's metallic texture also makes it very intriguing to me. The photo overall is characteristic of the park we were at.

Hoboken's sculpture

I took this picture in Hoboken with a long lens, i use the photography composition of rule of thirds and i focused only the sculpture you can see that because the background is blur.

Forest

My pic from hoboken is very AWESOME. I think it leads you right in to the trees. It's got a nice light and shadow to it. Like how the walk way looks like a street and I  think this a amazing picture. I will take better photos though but so far I think this is a amazing pic once again and i'm glad people see it.

NYC first photo shoot

As you can see in this first picture I tried to find the pattern on the bench. Also I tried to frame that person all  the  way at the end. This picture over all is really good. But having my classmate, Ameen, pass by and get caught in the picture, it messed it up a little.

In this second picture I saw the cracks in the ground  and I tried to take the photo from the top but I didn't like it. So then I just tried it from the opposite way and it looked good.
